Saudi Arabia Visa for Canadian Passport Holders in Dubai

Saudi Arabia's tourist eVisa is open to citizens of the countries on its official Permitted Country list, and Canada is on that list. So a Canadian passport holder qualifies for the eVisa directly — by nationality — and applies online at ksavisa.sa. This is the passport route, and it is the most straightforward of the ways into the Saudi eVisa system: no embassy appointment, no reliance on your UAE residence, and no third-party sponsorship.

This is a genuinely practical point for many Canadians in the UAE, because a large share also hold another nationality. You do not need to work out which passport gives you the best access — the Canadian passport already qualifies on its own, and it is generally the easiest travel document to apply with. The UAE-residence route exists as a backup, but it is not needed when your nationality already qualifies. Canadians travelling for business meetings, education-sector work, or leisure all use the same single eVisa.

Because you qualify for the online eVisa by passport, you can simply apply before you travel — usually approved within minutes. Saudi Arabia also operates visa-on-arrival counters, aimed at holders of a valid Schengen, US, or UK visit visa and permanent residents of the US, EU, or UK. So if a Canadian passport holder also carries a valid US visit visa, that is a second way in. The Saudi tourist eVisa permits Umrah outside the Hajj season — its official terms (visa.visitsaudi.com Terms & Conditions §8.7) and ksavisa.sa's activity guidelines list Umrah as a permitted activity, with the slot booked via the Nusuk platform after the eVisa is issued. Hajj is not permitted on a tourist eVisa and requires its own dedicated visa.
