VFS Czech Republic Dubai: Appointment & Preparation

VFS Global (Visa Facilitation Services Global) is a private company contracted by the Czech Embassy to operate visa application centres. In the UAE, VFS Global operates the Czech Republic visa application centre in Dubai on behalf of the Czech Embassy.

VFS Global does not make visa decisions. Its role is purely administrative:

• Receive your application and check documents are physically present
• Capture your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph)
• Collect visa and service fees
• Courier your file to the Czech Embassy for the actual decision

The visa approval or refusal decision is made exclusively by the Czech Embassy's consular officers. VFS has no role in this decision.

The VFS Global Czech Republic centre in Dubai is co-located with other VFS-managed Schengen country centres. Confirm hours on the VFS Global Czech Republic UAE website before your appointment, as hours can vary during UAE public holidays.

VFS Global only accepts appointment bookings made online through its official portal. Walk-in applications are not permitted. The booking process is straightforward when followed step by step.

1. 1Visit the official VFS Global Czech Republic UAE portal at vfsglobal.com/czechrepublic/uae.
2. 2Click "Schedule Appointment" or "Book an Appointment" and select UAE as your country of residence.
3. 3Select Dubai as your application centre (Abu Dhabi may also be available for some applicants — confirm on the portal).
4. 4Select your visa category: "Schengen Visa" for tourist, visit, or business short-stay applications.
5. 5Enter the number of applicants. Each person, including children, requires a separate appointment slot. Family group bookings may be available — check the portal for multi-applicant options.
6. 6View available dates and time slots. Select the earliest date that gives you enough time to complete your document preparation.
7. 7Create a VFS Global account or log in if you already have one. Provide your full name as it appears on your passport, your email address, and your UAE mobile number.
8. 8Confirm your appointment details and submit. You will immediately receive a confirmation email containing your appointment reference number and a PDF confirmation letter.
9. 9Print the confirmation letter or save it on your phone to present at the VFS centre on your appointment day.

Arriving with a complete, organised document file is the single most important preparation step. VFS staff check that all required items are physically present before accepting your submission. If any document is missing, your application cannot be accepted and you will need to rebook — losing your place in the queue.

• Original passport plus photocopies of all relevant pages (biographical data page, all pages with prior visas or stamps)
• Previous passports (if any) with Schengen visa history — copies of the relevant visa pages
• Completed and signed Schengen visa application form (original, not a copy)
• Two original biometric passport photographs (35mm x 45mm, white background, taken within the last 6 months)
• Valid UAE residence visa — original plus photocopy
• Emirates ID — original plus photocopy of both sides
• Schengen travel insurance certificate (original printout confirming EUR 30,000 minimum coverage, all Schengen countries, dates matching your trip)
• Round-trip flight reservation (printed confirmation showing your name, departure and return dates)
• Hotel bookings for all nights in the Schengen Area (printed confirmations, refundable bookings accepted)
• UAE bank statements — last 3–6 months, bank-stamped or officially authenticated
• Employment letter on company letterhead
• Last 3 months salary slips
• Cover letter (personal statement) — signed and dated by hand
• Day-by-day travel itinerary
• Any additional documents relevant to your visa category (invitation letter for visit visa, company letter for business visa)
• Printed VFS appointment confirmation letter
• Payment method for VFS service charge and visa fee — AED cash or card (confirm accepted methods on VFS website)

Understanding what to expect inside the VFS centre removes any uncertainty and helps your appointment go smoothly. The visit typically takes between 45 and 90 minutes from arrival to departure.

1. 1Arrival and security: Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Present your printed appointment confirmation at the entrance security desk. You may need to register your mobile phone in a locker for security purposes.
2. 2Token and queue: You will be issued a token number and directed to the waiting area. Most appointments are called within 10–20 minutes of your scheduled time.
3. 3Counter call: A VFS staff member will call your token number and direct you to a submission counter.
4. 4Document review: The VFS officer reviews your document file physically — checking that all required items are present. They do not assess the quality or strength of your application. If a document is missing, you will be asked to return with the complete file.
5. 5Biometric data capture: Your 10 fingerprints are scanned using a biometric reader and a digital photograph is taken. This process takes approximately 5 minutes. If you provided Schengen biometrics within the past 59 months (approximately 5 years), you may be exempt from re-enrolment — the VFS officer will confirm.
6. 6Fee payment: Pay the Czech Republic Schengen visa fee (EUR 80 in AED) and the VFS Global service charge. Both are collected at the counter. Cards and AED cash are typically accepted — confirm accepted payment methods on the VFS website before your appointment.
7. 7Application acknowledgement: You receive a receipt with your application reference number and an estimated decision date. Keep this reference number — it is used to track your application status online.
8. 8Optional add-ons: If you wish to add courier passport return or SMS tracking, purchase these at the counter before leaving.
9. 9Departure: Your visit is complete. Processing begins when your file is couriered to the Czech Embassy.

Once the Czech Embassy makes its decision and your passport is returned to VFS Global, you can collect it either in person or via the courier service. OraVisa monitors application status for all clients and notifies them as soon as the passport is ready for collection.
