Schengen Visa Fee: EUR 90 for UAE Applicants (in force since June 2024)

The European Commission raised the Schengen short-stay visa fee from EUR 80 to EUR 90 on 11 June 2024. EUR 90 is the current adult rate for all applications; the child (6–11) rate is EUR 45.

What Is Changing

The European Commission raised Schengen short-stay visa fees on 11 June 2024. The standard adult visa fee rose from EUR 80 to EUR 90 — a 12.5% increase — and EUR 90 remains the current rate. This applies to all 29 Schengen member and associated states.

Fees are in addition to VFS Global or TLS Contact service charges. The previous adult fee was EUR 80 (before 11 June 2024).

How This Affects UAE Residents

If you are a UAE resident planning to visit any Schengen country — France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, or any other member state — the adult application fee is EUR 90 (EUR 45 for children aged 6–11). VFS Global and TLS Contact service charges in Dubai are charged separately, on top of the government visa fee.

The EUR 90 fee has applied since 11 June 2024, so it is already the standard rate for all current applications — there is no earlier rate to lock in. Budget the government fee plus the application-centre service charge per applicant.

Key Points for Dubai Applicants

  • The current adult Schengen visa fee is EUR 90; children aged 6–11 pay EUR 45; children under 6 are free.
  • The fee is the same across all 29 Schengen states — no country charges more or less.
  • VFS Global and TLS Contact service charges are separate from the government fee and are unchanged.
  • A family of 2 adults + 2 children aged 6–11 pays EUR 270 in government visa fees (EUR 90 × 2 + EUR 45 × 2), before service charges.

OraVisa Recommendation

If you have upcoming summer travel to Europe, start your visa application process early. Schengen visa appointments through VFS Global or TLS Contact in Dubai typically have a 2–3 week wait during peak season, so preparing your documents and booking your appointment early helps you avoid last-minute appointment shortages.
