UAE Visa for Korean Citizens: Visa-Free Entry and Dubai Travel Guide

South Korean passport holders benefit from one of the most generous visa-on-arrival arrangements with the UAE. Upon arrival at any UAE port of entry — including Dubai International Airport (DXB), Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), Sharjah Airport (SHJ), or any land border crossing — Korean citizens receive a complimentary 90-day entry stamp in their passport. The 90-day stay is counted from the date of entry. The entry stamp is a single-entry permission, meaning if you leave the UAE during your 90-day stay, you will receive a new 90-day stamp upon re-entry.

If you wish to stay in the UAE longer than the initial 90-day visa-on-arrival period, you have several options. The simplest is to apply for a 30-day extension before your current entry stamp expires, which extends your total stay to 120 days. This extension can be processed through the ICP Smart Services portal, GDRFA app, or through an authorised service provider like OraVisa.

Another common option is to exit the UAE (a "visa run") to a nearby country such as Oman, Bahrain, or any other destination, and then re-enter to receive a fresh 90-day stamp. There is no mandatory cooling-off period for Korean citizens, so you can exit and re-enter on the same day. However, frequent visa runs may attract questions from immigration officers about the purpose of your extended presence in the UAE.

While the 90-day visa-on-arrival allows Korean citizens to enter the UAE freely, it does not permit any form of employment. If you wish to work in the UAE, you must obtain a valid work permit and residency visa, which is sponsored by your employer. Many Korean professionals work in the UAE in sectors including construction, engineering, energy, technology, and finance, particularly with Korean conglomerates that have regional operations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The process typically involves receiving a job offer from a UAE-registered company, which then applies for your work permit and residency visa on your behalf. You can enter the UAE on your visa-free stamp and then convert your status to a residency visa without leaving the country, provided your employer initiates the process while you are legally present in the UAE.
