• Blank pages: Your passport must have at least 2 consecutive blank visa pages. Stamps-only pages (non-visa pages) do not count. The Sweden visa sticker requires a full blank page.
• Issue date: Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years. An older passport — even if still technically valid — may not be accepted.
• Photo size: Exactly 35mm wide x 45mm tall. Photos that are even slightly off-size may be rejected at the VFS counter.
• Background: Plain white or very light grey — absolutely no coloured, patterned, or shadowed backgrounds.
• Face coverage: Your face must occupy 70-80% of the frame, looking straight ahead, with a neutral expression and mouth closed.
• No glasses: Schengen photo standards now prohibit glasses in visa photos, even prescription glasses.
• Recency: Photos must have been taken within the last 6 months. Avoid using photos from a previous passport application.
• Print quality: Photos must be printed on matte or semi-matte photographic paper — mobile phone screenshots printed on standard paper are not acceptable.

• Must include your company's UAE trade licence registration number or commercial registration details.
• Self-employed applicants: Submit your UAE trade licence, Memorandum of Association (for LLC companies), 6 months of company bank statements, and a self-authored business letter explaining your business, how it functions in your absence, and your reasons for returning.
