Brazil e-Visa for UAE Residents: How to Apply Online

Gathering everything you need before you begin the application will make the process much smoother. The Brazil e-Visa portal is designed to be completed in a single session — logging out and returning later can sometimes cause issues with saved data. Prepare the following items before you open the portal.

1. 1Your passport: open to the biographical data page, in good lighting for scanning. Note your passport number, expiry date, and full name exactly as printed.
2. 2A digital passport photograph: in JPEG format, on a plain white background, with your face clearly centred. Use a professional studio to ensure the specifications are met.
3. 3Your email address: one that you actively monitor. All application communications and the approval notice will be sent here.
4. 4Your credit or debit card: Visa or Mastercard, issued by a UAE or international bank. Have the card number, expiry, and CVV ready for payment.
5. 5Your planned travel details: approximate arrival and departure dates for Brazil, and the name and address of your first accommodation in Brazil (hotel, Airbnb, or host's address).
6. 6A stable internet connection: the application involves file uploads and online payment — an unstable connection can interrupt the process.

Follow these steps carefully to complete your Brazil e-Visa application correctly. Take your time at each step — especially when entering passport details — as errors are the primary cause of rejection and processing delays.

Step 1: Go to the Official Brazilian Government Portal

Navigate to the official Brazilian government portal at www.gov.br and locate the e-Visa section. The direct URL for the e-Visa service may change periodically — search "Brazil e-Visa official" and look for the gov.br domain to confirm you are on the legitimate government website. Do not use third-party websites that charge additional fees on top of the government fee — these are not the official channel.

Step 2: Create Your Account (Conta gov.br)

You must create a "Conta gov.br" (Brazilian government account) to access the e-Visa application portal. Click "Create Account" and provide your full name, email address, and a strong password. You will receive a verification email — click the verification link before proceeding. If you already have a Conta gov.br from a previous application, you can log in directly.

Step 3: Select the Correct Visa Type

Once logged in, navigate to the e-Visa application section and select the visa type that matches your purpose of travel. For tourism, recreation, visiting friends or family, or general exploration of Brazil, select VITUR (Visto Eletrônico de Turista — Tourist Electronic Visa). For short-term business meetings, conferences, or negotiations, select VITEM. Do not select VITRN (transit) unless you are merely passing through Brazil en route to another country.

Step 4: Complete the Personal Information Form

Complete the application form with your personal details. Enter your name, date of birth, nationality, and passport details exactly as they appear in your passport — including full name with middle names, exact passport number (verify digit by digit), and passport expiry date. Any discrepancy between the application and your passport will cause problems at Brazilian immigration even if your e-Visa is approved.

Step 5: Enter Your Travel Information

Enter your planned travel details for Brazil. You will be asked for your intended arrival date in Brazil, your planned departure date, the address of your first accommodation, and the purpose of your visit (select "Tourism" for a holiday). These dates do not need to be the exact final dates — approximate dates are acceptable at the application stage. However, your approved e-Visa must still be within its validity period when you actually travel.

Step 6: Upload Your Digital Photograph

Upload your digital passport photograph in JPEG format. The portal will run an automated check on your photograph. If it fails the check, you will be prompted to upload a new one — do not proceed with a photograph that the system has flagged as non-compliant. Step 7: Upload Your Passport Biographical Page

Upload a clear, colour scan or photograph of your passport's biographical data page. The scan must show all text without glare, shadow, or distortion. The entire page, including the machine-readable zone (the two lines of characters at the bottom of the passport page) must be visible and legible. Scan at a resolution of at least 300 DPI if using a scanner, or use good lighting if photographing with a smartphone.

Step 8: Review and Pay

Before proceeding to payment, review every field of your application one final time. Check your name, passport number, date of birth, and passport expiry date in particular. Errors cannot be corrected after payment. Once satisfied, proceed to payment and enter your credit or debit card details. The fee is USD 80. You will receive a payment confirmation and an application reference number — save both.

Once payment is confirmed and your application is submitted, the processing begins. You will receive an automated confirmation email with your application reference number. Use this number to track your application status on the Brazilian portal.

1. 1Check your email inbox and spam folder within 1 to 2 hours of submission for the confirmation email. If you do not receive it, log into your gov.br account to verify the application was submitted and paid successfully.
2. 2Monitor your email for the approval notice, which typically arrives within 24 to 72 hours. During peak periods, it can take up to 5 business days.
3. 3When the approval email arrives, download the e-Visa document attached. The document will show your name, passport number, e-Visa number, validity dates, permitted number of entries, and maximum stay duration.
4. 4Print at least two copies of your approved e-Visa document. Keep one with your passport in your hand luggage and a digital copy on your phone as backup.
5. 5Verify the details on your approved e-Visa against your passport — name, passport number, and validity dates should all match. If there is an error, contact the Brazilian immigration portal immediately before travelling.

If your Brazil e-Visa application is rejected, you will receive a rejection notification by email. The notification typically includes a general reason code rather than a detailed explanation. The USD 80 fee is not refunded.

You can reapply for the Brazil e-Visa after a rejection. There is no mandatory waiting period. However, it is critical to identify and correct the reason for rejection before reapplying — submitting the same application again will result in the same outcome and another lost USD 80.
